Kubb pictures with people playing Molkky. Molkky is a fun game for young and old!

Mölkky, also called "Number Kubb" or "Number Kubb", is a variation of the popular game Kubb. Below I will tell you everything you need to know about this fun game and I will also give you a list of the best sets.

What is Mölkky?

Mölkky is a fun, didactic game. The aim of the game is to be the first to reach 50 points. You do this by knocking over the numbered pegs with the throwing stick (the Mölkky ). You add up the numbers on the knocked over pegs and that is your score. If you exceed 50 points, your score goes back to 25 and you can try to reach 50 points again in the following turns.

A didactic game!

I think it is a very fun game to play with children. The dynamics are very different from Kubb, but it is just as strategic. It is also a didactic game: it is namely a very good way to learn mental arithmetic in a playful way, what more could you want?! The fun thing is that you can play it with an infinite number of people in a team, but also individually.

Rules and Game Play

Mölkky is a fairly clear game with not too many complicated rules. You compete with 2 or more people against each other and you try to get 50 points as quickly as possible, that's it! With the right technique and a lot of luck, those 50 points can be won in no time!

  1. Set out field
You mark out the field by placing the stakes as in the image below. You draw the throwing line 3.5 meters from the stakes.

  2. Start of the game Mölkky
The teams take turns throwing underhand with the throwing stick (the Mölkky ) as many numbered pins as possible. Especially in the beginning, the more the better!
  3. Determine points
The number of pins that have fallen is determined. "Falled" means that the pin is completely on the ground. A pin that is tilted or leaning on the Möllky (throwing stick) does not count as "fallen".
The points of the fallen posts are added together.
  4. Set the posts upright
The stakes are placed upright at the spot where they fell over. With each subsequent throw, all numbered stakes are upright again.
  5. End of the game
The game can end in 2 ways:
1st way: The game ends when someone has scored exactly 50 points. If you go over 50, your score is reduced to 25 points and you try to get 50 points again from that score.
2nd way: A player is eliminated when he has not knocked anything over for 3 turns in a row.
