5 Kubb Tips
This is how you (almost) always win with Kubb!
Participating is more important than winning, right? Yes and no... winning is of course the goal! If you are as fanatic as I am, you want to win at all costs. Don't let "preparing well" be the same as "cheating": this is just pure winning mentality! 😀👌
Below you will find 5 smart tips that will greatly increase your chances of winning at Kubb. And even if you don't win: with these tips you will look like a pro anyway!
Tip 1: Way of throwing
Lock your elbow. Throw from your shoulder - this will help you aim better.
- For balance, hold one throwing stick in your other hand.
- Just leave the remaining sticks on the ground.
- Practice throwing with the stick turning 180 degrees. This works best.
- And: stay true to your technique. Even if it doesn't work at first.
Tip 2: Throwing Kubbs like a pro
When you have to throw the Kubbs in the field (after your opponent's turn), aim them as close together as possible. This increases your chance of knocking down multiple Kubbs in one throw. Efficient and impressive!
Tip 3: Placing your opponent's Kubbs
If your opponent throws his Kubbs in your field, you may place them. Place them:
- As far apart as possible: then he needs more sticks to knock them over.
- Or even against each other: that makes them extra difficult to hit.
Tip 4: Always throw perpendicular to the Kubb
Always stand directly in front of the flat side of the Kubb. Perpendicular. That increases your hitting area and the chance that you hit the target.
Tip 5: Take advantage of mistakes
If the opponents throw their Kubb outside the field twice, you may place it. Place it as close as possible behind the king (at least 1 throwing stick distance).
Why? The chances of accidentally hitting the king on their next throw are high. And that means: you win! 🎯
Good luck! And don't forget... losing can be stylish too 😉
